About Us barnweb1

The Barn at Penfolds is situated in the small village of Bury, West Sussex, just off the A29, at the foot of the South Downs, close to the River Arun. It is located down a quiet village lane, adjacent to the owners’ seventeenth century cottage.

Formerly belonging to the Norfolk estate, this ancient, thatched roofed barn was for many years used by Sidney Penfold, the local blacksmith and farrier as his workshop.

Howard and Susie Macnamara acquired the property 26 years ago,
and have recently created high quality accommodation inside,
whilst retaining and exposing a wealth of old oak timber.

They look forward to welcoming guests who wish to enjoy Bed and Breakfast with modern comforts in a character setting.

**** The Barn at Penfolds has been awarded Four Stars and a Gold Award by the English Tourist Board.
